Frequently Asked Questions

What time are services on Friday?

We generally have our Family Shabbat Service at 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. For any other Friday, services begin at 7:30 p.m. There are very rare exceptions (cancellations due to emergencies, Fridays off for holidays, etc.) to this rule. If you're ever in doubt, please access our calendar by clicking here

We have small children. Is it ok to bring them to services?

It is our duty and our privilege as parents and grandparents to have our children experience Shabbat at a synagogue, learn about their tradition, and make them feel at home. Because we make this a priority, at Beth Shalom, children are always welcome at each and all of our services. With that being said, the Family Shabbat is the experience children will enjoy most, and they will get the most out of it.

Should you wish to bring smaller children to the Shabbat Evening Service, we do have a "cry room" in our sanctuary from which you can enjoy our service while attending to any of your child(ren)'s needs.

I have a class project that requires me to visit a place of worship for a religion other than my own and was hoping to visit Beth Shalom. Is this ok?

Yes, please join us for any of our Friday evening Shabbat services. Times are listed above, and we'd be happy to have you respectfully observe and participate with us!

What is the cost of membership?

We have suggested Minimum Annual Commitment levels, based on the oldest adult in the household and whether the application is for a family or an individual. These may be found on our most current membership application. However, no one is ever turned away because of an inability to pay the full amount requested. If you need assistance, please contact our treasurer.
